The Hayward Rotary Club will hear presentations by selected members who have attained blue badge status when it meets for lunch on Sept. 14 at 1074 B St.
New members wear a red name badge at club meetings until completing simple requirements to advance to blue ID badge status. The process of becoming familiarized with club activities and areas of focus helps new members get to know fellow Rotarians and includes steps that hundreds have taken over the club's 104-year history.
The official policies and guidelines of the club note that the transition of red badge holders to blue is essential to assure that board members of the club and foundation are refreshed with Rotarians who have undergone the process. An example of its importance to leadership development is that since the club was founded in 1922 there has been a different president every year.
