Fields of Dreams
The Hayward Rotary, in collaboration with Hayward Unified School District, Moreau Catholic High School, and many of Hayward's civic-minded businesses have undertaken the challenge of raising the funds to renovate the sports complexes at Mt. Eden, Hayward, Tennyson, Sunset and Moreau catholic High Schools. This ambitious undertaking will raise 1.3 million dollars for new scoreboards, snackbars, restrooms, goalposts and lighting. Over $275,00 of this amount has already been committed by Rotary, individuals, and corporations.
Studies have proven that parental and family involvement in a child's education drastically improves the child's level of commitment, desire to succeed, and ability to cope with challenges and adversity. This project will facilitate that by helping to instill school and community pride in the students and faculty; by encouraging attendance by families, friends, and the community at school sports functions. And by holding games at their home field, schools will generate additional revenue throught the snackbar sales, which will be put back into girls and boys sports programs.
